I want to preface this review by saying there will be a touch of bias in here. As you read on, you’ll understand why.
Bourbon as a history started as a blue collar frontier drink. When you think of it, odds are you are picturing a dimly lit bar, a still way too hot evening on a ranch, or sitting in front of a fireplace. Very rarely do I come across bourbons that to me speak the essence of bourbon’s history. This one does.
I took it with me when I went out horseback riding the other day. My honest first impression of it was eye opening. It made me feel like I was back in time, where bourbon and horses and hard work reigned supreme. It’s smooth like butter, yet bold and strong and powerful. It has hints of apple and pepper and vanilla, all while staying true to the oak and caramel roots of a classic bourbon.
I picked up the flask size for about $25 but their small batch full size bottle is about $50. I strongly recommend for a mid tier bourbon to keep in your cabinet. Their distillery has a good story and the taste backs it up. I can’t wait to try some of their more limited releases one day.
