So I’ll be the first to admit that I overpaid for this bottle. It was something that had interested me for a while and I paid for that. My local liquor store (if it was in stock) had it at roughly $85, so bear that in mind as you read.
My honest opinion of this bourbon is it drinks exactly at its market value as of this post. I do not think I would pay more for it than $85. That being said, I would be very comfortable spending that for this bottle.
The first thing I notice is the striking bottle. Images do not do it justice; it truly is a beautiful design. The taste, however, is a step down, but only slightly. If you are a traditional bourbon enthusiast, you will thoroughly enjoy this. Heavy oak and vanilla notes run rampant throughout the nose and tongue. A long, ethanol burn finishes it off with subtle caramel notes lingering.
All in all, a solid bourbon that is a step above in terms of quality. That being said, I do not see the market value of this bourbon increasing over time. I think it holds true with what it is: a very good, but not outstanding pour. That being said, the bottle alone makes this a statement in any bourbon cabinet and you will drink it if you have it. Enjoy, and drink safely.
