Reviews and Opinions

my biggest pet peeve with review sites is they focus on msrp pricing, or the pricing the distillery sells them for. very few bottles are actually available at msrp, so I will be evaluating them at their market value. the other note is, these are not in depth reviews, with tasting notes and bottle biographies. just quick hits for the people that want a little info and insight and want to move on. happy drinking!

Isaac Bowman Port Barrel Finished

Updated: Jul 31, 2023

If you are looking for a good, inexpensive bourbon, look no further. Coming in at around $25, this bourbon will knock your socks off.

I will tempure your expectations a little bit. This isn't a Pappy or Blanton's, but this bottle certainly is fighting way above it's weight class.

Nose and taste are exactly what you would expect out of a Port Finish, sweet with grape and berry, warm with oak and cinnamon. The uniqueness of this bottle comes from its mouth feel though. If you've ever had a dry red wine, you know the tingly tip of tongue sensation that is unique to that type of wine. This bottle so elegantly captures that mouth feel and yet does not take you outside the experience of enjoying a nice, smooth bourbon.

I strongly recommend picking up a bottle, and at the price it's at, what do you have to lose?
